Why are sneakers looking like high heels?

I'm used to shoes that arch with the feet. Now I am seeing almost exclusively flat soles on the bottom. Only more recently did I notice that these tend to have a thick sole at the back so they are not even flat.

Because they are fashion sneakers and not athletic shoes. If you want real sneakers, you need athletic shoes. Words change meanings over time. Sneakers when you were 13 are very different than what sneakers are now.

My son is 5'9". He says he's 5'10". The sneakers add a whole inch for sure!
