Sleep troubles

Anonymous
My 3yo has always been a bad sleeper. In his daycare he naps for less than an hour, at least that’s why they tell me. Every weekday, bedtime is terrible. He only falls sleep at around 10 pm no matter how early or late the bestime routine starts. During the weekends, he skips the naps and is asleep by 8pm. I feel that he is losing almost 2 h of sleep each night because of his naps. Please help!

1 hour for a 3 year old is enough. Some kids are ready to drop a nap altogether at that age. I would purposely skip the nap on the weekend. Does he act tired all day? He may just need less sleep. What time is wake up?

Yep, time to drop the nap. The daycare can transition to "quiet time", where he's laying down but has a picture book or quiet toy. Then he can fall asleep if he needs to.

We cut off our crappy sleeper's nap at age 3 when he would be awake struggling to fall asleep past 10/11pm
