Please recommend a book for me!
I just randomly read "The Perfect Marriage" and I like that type of "who's done it" books (I liked the Wife Upstairs too!) I love the My Brilliant Friend series I dislike: books similar to David Sedaris "Me Talk Pretty One Day." I enjoy funny chic lit too. Thank you! |

Both of these have strong female characters who overcome grief/obstacles to find themselves, but the books don't take themselves too seriously if that makes sense.
Unsinkable Greta Jones The People We Keep |
| I loved the Unsinkable Greta Jones as did my husband! |

Rom com:
The Float Plan by Trish Doller Weather Girl by Rachel Solomon (love all of hers but that’s a good one to start with) The Bodyguard by Katherine Center Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood These might feel like a fit for some aspects of My Brilliant Friend: Oh Willliam by Elizabeth Strout The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid The Book That Matters Most by Ann Hood Thriller It Girl by Ruth Ware Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins (I liked it better than The Wife Upstairs) The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave |
| Have you tried any Anne Tyler books? |
I read this on recommendation from this thread. It was meh. I read the whole thing because I like the idea of reading about a female rock star in her late 30s (living vicariously!) but it was overly sentimental IMO and I really disliked the dad she was supposed to be reconciling with. |
