| I got the email and am kind of stumped. I'm looking for easy, not too expensive, appealing to teens, and won't give anyone food poisoning from being at room temp for 2 hours. Help! |
| Homemade or storebought applesauce. |
|
pumpkin bread
|
| I like the homemade applesauce idea. Lots of cinnamon and chunks of cooked apples. Yum |
| Consider appetizers. Hummus, fruit tray, even a cheese pizza (cut into bite size squares). |
| I wouldn't really worry. Anything brought to any potluck has been sitting at room temp for more than 2 hrs by the time person finishes cooking, the pack up, get to potlock, it sits out some more, then finally meal time. |
| Mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, a salad, corn bread, so many choices. |
| Hawaiian rolls |
won't get eaten by high schoolers. waste of time. |
Baked apples sounds better, tbh. My kids don't like chunky apple sauce, but don't know if that's typical. I would not worry about 2 hours. Stay away from mayo and you should be good. My kids don't refrigerate their lunches (the freezer packs I lovingly packed every day in early elementary are a long-dead remnant of the past) and have never been sick. |
| Chicken wings, empanadas, ham and cheese sliders on Hawaian rolls. I wouldn't worry about the two hour thing. |
| I replied above but missed cheap and easy (sorry). Within those parameters, I think I would do cornbread muffins (with honey butter if you're fancy). |
| Cranberry sauce |
| Nothing with poultry including chicken broth, etc. It’s the most dangerous thing to let sit out at room temp for 2 hours. |
