This article is about international students. It’s no secret schools like to have them because they pay full freight,

Right. Even some schools who are need blind for domestic students are need aware for international students. I recall that Dartmouth (I think) recently announced it would be need blind for international students and that was a big deal.

Most of the elite colleges are predominantly children of the 1%, or at least 5%. It’s nothing new.

Yes, our colleges and I Ive look to foreign students to be full pay. Also true in law school. Someone has to pay for all the merit and financial aid students

Uh, OP, colleges have to pay professors, physical plant, insurance, and thousands of other costs. Unless there is money from tuition, how do you expect these institutions to function?
