Used car valuations are insane

I bought a 2015 car (used) in 2017. It just got totaled, and despite being 5 yrs older with an extra 40k miles, I got the same settlement as I pain for the car
Now I am scared to look at the cost of replacements

Used prices should come down soon. Plenty of videos explaining why.

Good luck buying another car, it's nuts.

Just checked the Kelly blue book value for my 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE and it said $20k. Wow!

Know that before settling w/an insurance co. - you can always negotiate the settlement amount first.

Most people elect to just accept the settlement amount given to them.

KBB on my 2020 Rubicon is almost 10% more than I paid for it new. But a comparably equipped new one is about 25% more than the 2020 was when new. So, there’s that.

Dreading looking for a new car.

Hit a deer on Monday night & I'm 99% sure the vehicle will be totaled.

Pro: KBB is $4k over what I paid for the car

Con: the same model vehicle is now going for nearly $12k over what I paid in 2019

Also, all the dealerships I've looked at online casually this week have $3k-8k markups over MSRP. A big ol suck my dk to them.
