| We are thinking of going to Ocean City for Thanksgiving weekend. Will any restaurants be open or is everything going to be closed? Obviously, we won't swim at the beach, maybe some walks along the shore, as it's supposed to be highs in the 50s. We want to go away and enjoy the views and have some downtime, but not sure if this is just a bad idea. |
| Yes there will definitely be some places open. |
| I love going to Ocean City in the off season/winter. There are plenty of restaurants and things still open, just check their webpages, or check with the hotel front desk as well (if you're staying at a hotel). The Outlets/White Marlin Mall is still open, so if you like to shop you can do that for a few hours. Have a great time! |

I'd keep "walks on the beach" to a reasonable expectation. If it's windy, it's just not that fun.
Stay somewhere with a terrific view of the ocean, so that you can enjoy it while indoors. |

OP there are not a lot of places open.
Most restaurants are closed. A few more are open in Rehoboth or back towards Berlin MD. It's ok to go but make a list of open places before you go. We could not find a breakfast place open besides Wawa or Royal Farms last weekend. Uber bagels might still be open weekends. |

It's free but you have to get tickets in advance. It's a lot of fun. Maybe avoid it on Black Friday as it is right behind the outlets but could be fun on Saturday. The OC Festival of Lights is usually open by that weekend. Again, look into tickets in advance because the tickets lines can be long. And there is a craft show at the convention center: https://www.ococean.com/events I think you will find enough open to fill a weekend. If nothing else, there are movies, bowling, shopping--all the things you could do here. My parents live there so we go a lot and never run out of things to do. Maybe book a hotel with an indoor pool! |

I’m
Going to Rehoboth that week for a couple of days. I’m meeting a friend in Ocean city so the kids can ice skate so that’s an activity option too. In Rehoboth most of the restaurants and shops are open. There is a cute trail on Burtons Island if you want to do that… it’s a short loop but has nice scenery. |
| Can't speak to OC specifically, but Rehoboth is PACKED that weekend (which bums me out a little because we've been celebrating Thanksgiving there my whole life, and I kinda miss having it to ourselves). |
This is silly. There are many places open. Yes most are closed but there are so many more restaurants in OC then Rehoboth so of course more are closed. |
|
These are just a few examples.

| OP here. Thanks for the links to events in OC and Rehoboth. These look great and would get us in the holiday spirit! |
If it rains there is bowling, ally oops, movies, ice skating, indoor put putt |
If you are there on Friday and plan to go back in the summer, there are a lot of places in OC with great Black Friday deals that you can buy now and use next year. Jolly Roger offers 50% off of any kind of pass that they sell but you have to be there in person. And a lot of the restaurants offer 50% off or BOGO. You may just need to search online. My FIL lives close to OC and spends all day just going from restaurant to restaurant getting his deals that he and MIL use all winter
|
| A lot of places that are closed now open up for Thanksgiving. Also, it tends to be warmer - I think they are calling for 55 on Thanksgiving. It s a great time. Restaurants sometimes have deals too. |

We were just there (we own a place) and many places are still open. Not the open air seafood market type places, but most sit down restaurants are open at least Fri-Sun. Uber Bagels is open on weekends. Alley Oops is fun. The ice skating (at the Carousel I assume?) would be good too. The winter walk of lights starts tonight I think so that’s definitely an option. Liquid Assets is a fun place to go to dinner if you don’t have little kids. The wait is long but you can drink hang out and drink wine/beer while you wait and the food is good. And of course there is always stuff going on in Rehoboth.
We had a great time there for part of Thanksgiving weekend last year. It was chilly but sunny and just nice to be near the ocean. I wish we were going back but we have to travel elsewhere this year. There is a turkey trot race in Bethany I think, that I want to do with one of my kids next year. Maybe look into that if you’re interested. |
