How long to wfh after coming down with rsv

Anonymous
My kids and I all currently have rsv. Oldest is eight days into this, finally better and can return to school. My one year old and I are four days in. I am supposed to go into the office a couple of days this week for important meetings. Childcare aside, when would I be clear to return to my office? I obviously don’t want to spread this.

You can shed RSV for weeks. Can you postpone the meetings?

No I can’t. I can participate in them virtually but really not ideal.

Also, weeks??

Sorry, my ped told me weeks but this may be only children and old people.

"People infected with RSV are usually contagious for 3 to 8 days and may become contagious a day or two before they start showing signs of illness. However, some infants, and people with weakened immune systems, can continue to spread the virus even after they stop showing symptoms, for as long as 4 weeks"

Yeah my ped said my otherwise healthy 3yo was good to go back to group care/public settings once her only symptom was the cough. Unless your office has people at seriously high risk for RSV, I would figure you’d be fine next week.

I went back right once I was feeling better and nobody else got sick. I did wear a mask in meetings.

You go back when you feel well enough to go.
