| DH has COVID. DC and I feel fine. I took an antigen test this morning which came back negative, but have not tested DC. Do I need to test him before sending him to school tomorrow? If negative, is a quarantine period still required? I tried finding the guidance on the FCPS site but can’t find it anymore. TIA! |
| No quarantine if asymptomatic |
| I am not sure you even need to test if no symtoms...but I would test and send if negative. I would also skip optional big social events. I would hope you would let me know in terms of playdates too. |
Yes, play date scheduled this afternoon outside. I have let the other mom know. |
| There is no protocol. |
|
We just went through this. No testing required if no symptoms.

| Be a decent person and test your kid and keep them home if positive. How is this a question? You think its ok to infect the entire school and their families? |
| I would test and send to school if negative |
| OP here - thanks all. DC and I got a PCR test earlier today. Will await the results and plan accordingly. Would never knowingly send my child to school sick. Just didn’t know what the current “rules” were since they’ve changed a lot since this all started. |
The current round of covid is about an 8 hour low grade fever and wanting to nap for a day. No reason to test an asymptomatic kid. It isn't even a cold at this point. |
An asymptomatic kid is sick. It can be worse than a cold for some. You were lucky. I had no fever but was sick for about a week. It was worse than a cold. |
PCRs are overkill. Home antigen tests are plenty accurate. |
Lucky you. That was not our experience last month when my whole family got it in October for the 1st time. |
Exactly. Covid still is deadly for some. Let’s care about other people. Containment is solution to help mitigate infecting others. If you feel sick, stay home. If you were exposed, wear a mask and test. Common sense people! |

If the kid is sick keep him or her home.
Call the absence line at your child’s school and report the symptoms. That’s it and that’s all. |
