| We’ve had no notice whatsoever. Do they not do them in high school? |
| The Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving |
Weird. No announcement, no signups so far. |
| They don’t do them in high school. If I remember correctly, high schoolers didn’t even have half-days when MS and ES had half days for parent-teacher conferences. |
That's no longer the case. Our HS is having conferences both days, recommended for students with low grades in quarter 1. |
| They aren’t. |
| It depends on the school, but traditionally, HS have not done them as parents of struggling students can request a conference at any time and there are fewer options in HS: drop a course or do credit recovery. |
| Rockville HS just received a note giving info on how to sign up for PT conferences the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They suggest prioritizing one or two teachers because of time constraints. |

Historically, HS don't have P-T conferences, only MS and ES. Until 7 or 8 years ago, HS had a full day of class when there were the early release days for ES and MS. Then they tweaked calendar for entire system to have the early release to "reduce confusion" and allow HS students to be home to watch younger siblings. In HS - the effort for students being in the appropriate class happens before the 25th day when students can drop a course and not have it on their transcript. After that, students are supposed to be advocating for themselves and getting help during teacher office hours as needed. P-T conferences can be arranged as needed.
Some high schools may be coordinating conferences to meet the needs within their school, but there is not a general expectation that everyone is having P-T conferences across the system. If you have a concern, email the teacher. Otherwise, you really don't need to talk to them. |
| There are no p-t conferences available to either my MSer or HSer. MS sent out email saying you’d be notified if you needed one and they could only accommodate lower performing kids. HSers have early release but school hasn’t said anything about conferences. Never heard of one. Middle School used to do speed dating type conferences but those haven’t returned since pandemic. |
