| Has anyone noticed that DC puts “BJ” on all license plates where the owner requests that “Taxation Without Representation” to be removed from the tag? |
All “BJ” plates are federal vehicles. |
+1 The Trump administration refused to have the “taxation without representation” license plates on their federal vehicles, because he’s petty AF. |
Not true. Anyone can request a plate without the slogan. Certain letter pairs are reserved for people who do. |
BJ has been reserved for federal fleet vehicles for at least a decade. During the last administration, the federal government refused to allow its vehicles to have that slogan. The DC DMV then created a generally applicable “rule” that anyone could request to have a plate without the slogan. Understand now? |
Explain then my neighbor who is not a fed but simply contrarian, who has a BJ license plate? |
The rule has been in place for over 20 years. The Clinton Administration had the slogan, the GW Bush administration ordered all of the federal vehicles replated. |
| Several of my friends (non-feds) requested this tag and got “BJ” on their tags? Why? Seems so petty of the DC Govt. |
| So to clarify, can anyone point to a tag that does not have the slogan no taxation etc that does not have the letters BJ whether it be federal or private? |
I'm sure once they run out of BJ they'll start issuing the FU series. |
Because the Federal government has less than 9999 vehicles that need to be plated with DC plates. The remainder of the federal fleet vehicles usually have GSA tags. |
