What is this? I haven't heard anything about yet another tool to track progress. |
| Me too. My son is in a magnet program. We haven’t registered. Is it effectively SPAM? |
wow you are so lucky we didn't get anything like this |
| Reach out to your school principal to see if the program is legit. If your school was testing a new system, there should have been an email. Perhaps you missed the email. Otherwise, someone is trying to get your private information. |
|
Or the school system/school just decided it was OK to share student data with a third party. I sure hope they buttoned up any privacy concern with compact privacy agreements that require opt-in before any data sharing, limit third party use only to the particular service (without any BS about "...and with our partners to...[wahatever might fall under an over-broad reasonable use clause]", and allow a family to expunge data fully from the third party's (and any following parties') systems.
Guessing not. Of course, why should we hold MCPS to a privacy standard to which we won't hold the rest of society? SMH. |
MCPS routinely shares data with 3rd parties. Synergy, testing, google apps, etc. |
| Not sure which school you're talking about but hopefully it's not from 4th Grade Magnet RLA teachers? |
| And if it is, find an attorney stat! There is no reason why they shouldn't be using Google for all assignments like the rest of MCPS. |

I'm still getting this email. My HSer is not registered for a summer class. Why am I getting these emails?
Does anyone actually find this website useful? |
+1. Curriculum 2.0 was a "public-private partnership" literally sharing all of our children's data with no way for parents to opt out. |
It's useful if your child is taking a summer class and you want to track their progress. |
but my kid isn't taking a summer class. So, is it really only useful for summer classes? |
It is useful for any class taken through Edmentum, which includes summer classes and credit recovery. |
| Edmentum is for online classes. If your kid isn't taking any online classes, then maybe you're getting this in error? |
What magnet program? Both my kids are in different magnets (one middle, one high) and I’ve not received that for either of them. |
