Why isn't there a diet pill / drink that just makes you feel a little nauseous

Anonymous
It seems like such an easy answer to getting someone to eat a little less! There's been a few times in my life where I've felt a bit nauseous for an extended period (not debilitatingly so and not close to throwing up). I end up cutting way down on snacking and greasy food and lose a few pounds that end up staying off for a couple years. I still get enough variety of food and calories, i just eat more for the purpose of nutrition versus eating and snacking just to eat. I wish I could just always feel that way for a few weeks a year - its easy and painless and requires no thought or willpower, just happens naturally because you don't feel like any extraneous eating

Because any non disordered person wouldn’t use it. Please do talk to a doctor about your relationship with food and weight.

Most people don't want to feel sick.

People do all sorts of crazy things to try to restrict their eating and lose weight (only eating certain hours / only eating certain types of foods / spending hours weighing and planning) - this literally achieves the exact same thing with zero thought, no obsessive behaviors...it just makes it so you naturally don't eat as much as opposed to having to try to force yourself to not eat as much through crazy rules

I had all-day nausea when I was pregnant and it was such misery. I cannot imagine doing that to myself to lose weight.

Anytime I feel the least bit nauseous I start to desperately wish I was not feeling that way. It's an awful feeling.

I'd rather be fat than nauseous on the regular. And I think most people feel that way.

I guess my "eh eating that chocolate or handfull of fries doesn't sound that appealing right now but this sandwich is fine" level of nauseous doesn't resonate with you all! oh well, this was just random musing anyway

Nausea makes me eat more. To try to get rid of it

My doctor has me taking a ton of vitamins and some of them make me nauseated, like Vitamin B and glutathione. But it's different from nausea that happens when you're ill.

If you're in shock or recovering from the stomach flu or whatever, your body doesn't have you eating for a specific purpose. That purpose is short lived . . . until you are out of fight or flight or until you've dealt with whatever virus was attacking you. Low level, constant nausea . . . honestly I think that would mess with your mental health.

I do encourage you to look at whether you are thinking about your body in a healthy way. "I wish I felt sick all the time so I could lose weight" doesn't sound healthy to me.

Metformin does that for me.

“Crazy” is a good word. So is “disordered.”
