For those of you who delivered at Sibley, did they have your chart right in the room with your weight listed for everyone to see? |
I'm sure it's in there, but I never saw it anywhere. Any I do not think you will be thinking about it as you will be too busy PUSHING OUT A BABY! ![]() |
Ha! I was so concerned about my weight too -- so funny considering what my husband saw throughout our time there, I still didn't want him to know what I weighed (more than him!!). I just told the nurses that when I arrived and my husband was respectful of that so no issues. Good luck! |
I was concerned too -- but it was a non-issue. I guess it was on the chart but no one ever saw it. When they asked me in front of my husband, I told them I don't tell my husband. We all laughed about it and they let me write it down. I think they are used to this -- lots of pregnant ladies don't want to publicize the scary number!! |
Who cares....I mean really...come on.... |
They asked me several times, but I had a c-section and needed anesthesia. I weighed more than (1) my husband, and (2) my doctor!
|
I can't remember-but after having a c-section, I didn't care. When I was weighed at my doctors office, I would stand not facing the bar, and tell the person who was weighing, DO NOT say my weight out loud, only write it down. I did ask when I was nearing the end, I was 162, when I got pregnant, I was 117. I laugh about it now. But my chart at Sibley-honestly can't remember-and it wasn't that long ago. You'll be too overwhelmed with your new baby to even care. |
Ugh, no, but I had to say my weight to the nurse in front of my husband and best friend right before my c-section. It was mortifying!! |
I clocked in at 200 lbs the morning of the c-section. It was announced in front of my husband. I'm sure that he was aware of my plumped up status... but if I hadn't been so scared of the c-section, I would have been really upset.

I delivered at Sibley about a year ago. I think I remember the chart being near the door to the room, on the wall--neither my husband nor myself ever looked at it. They gave us another chart to track the baby's feedings, wet diapers, and poopy diapers, so we were much more concerned with that.
Some good news for you though if you're concerned about your weight: mine dropped SIGNIFICANTLY within 24 hours of the delivery--I had gained 30 lbs. over the 9 months and lost 15 lbs. in one day! |
Yeah, the weight thing is announced in front of your husband (don't feel bad, I was 209 the morning of my section, I'm 6' tall but it's still not okay!). I cared for 5 minutes and then realized I was about to have a baby. For what it's worth, I gained 50 pounds, 30 was gone in 2 weeks and the last 20 was gone in 4 months. You will not weigh this much forever!! Best wishes... |
I am so glad this is all people have to worry about! I wish I'd had the energy before or after my daughter was born. |
Who actually cares when you're delivering a baby? |
OP here. I care. I'm looking for factual responses, not opinions. Come on, you think I'm not interested in the delivery of my baby? Please.
I have a very nosy family that will look high and low for the number and nag continually about it from then on if they find out the magic number. Love 'em, but also know what to expect from them. |
To OP: with a question like this you are bound to get opinions as well ...
Really, don't you all think your husband may already noticed that you gained weight / got bigger during the pregancy? And is this something that he should have an opinion about? I have gained an enormous amount of weight so far (almost 45 lb) and I couldn't care less what he or anyone else thinks about it .. it's not that I have been binging ...I AM PREGNANT!! |
