| Does anyone know how competitive this team is? Could an athletic kid who wants to play but has not had a lot of experience make the team? |
| Maybe although JV is more likely to be populated by underclassmen who play travel already. Softball is a hard sport to late. Swing mechanics, footwork, throwing mechanics all are skills that even natural athletes won’t necessarily pick up quickly |

I have seen no evidence that there is a JV Softball team at RM. There is no Instagram page. They are never mentioned on Twitter. The Varsity coach is pretty active on Twitter so you'd think she'd do a shout-out to the JV team. I forget if there is a picture of the team in the yearbook.
I don't think there are enough interest in softball at JV to have both a varsity and jv team. |
| I am almost positive that there were not enough girls to field a JV softball team last year at RM. |

According the RM Booster webpage, there is a JV softball team.

That is possible. It is dependent on the year, I think. Some years there is more interest than others. At my DD's school, they did not have enough to field a JV team two years ago, but last year they had a full JV roster and there seems to be a lot of interest this year as well. |
| They haven’t quite had a JV team the past two years, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have one this year (especially given COVID). Assuming there’s a JV team she could probably make it, and no harm in trying out; it’s a very good program! |
Doesn’t mean anything. Many schools start with the intention of having both varsity and jv teams. They make schedules for both. Then try-outs happen and there are only enough girls for one team. |
| If there is someone that can give her a little practice throwing and catching that would be great. If anyone in the family played baseball, it’s basically the same mechanics for fielding—just a fatter ball. That really just takes a little practice and it’s just not as much fun for the girls to play if they can’t catch/throw. The batting and strategy can come later. |
