The YA Fiction Thread

I have really grown to love fiction that's being marketed as YA. Maybe we can have a thread just for talking about/recommending YA books?

My favs this year:
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace (goodreads)
The Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede (goodreads)
Portrait of a Thief by Grace Li (goodreads)
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn (goodreads)

I didn't love the final book in The Inheritance Games, but I noticed that the author is writing a spin off.

Most of those are YA Fantasy, so you might like the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik. They’re quick reads, the system of magic is really interesting, and the main character is so damn likable and funny.

Philip Pullman His Dark Materials trilogy, and the Sally Lockhart trilogy (plus 4th book though it doesn't fit the same) are some of my favorite books ever.

Oh great. Here are my top three. Though I suspect they are classed by some as middle grade and / or cross over fiction

When my son was in MS, I read a couple of books that he was reading, as well.

I read "A Mango Shaped Space" by Wendy Mass. Loved it. It was about a girl with synesthesia.

I also read "No Passengers Beyond this Point" by Gennifer Choldenko (author of the Al Capone YA series). Also excellent. It was sort of a mystery/fantasy book. (I also read Al Capone with him in elem school. They were well-written, too.)
