At which point in filling out the hs common app do you upload the transcript?

This process is making me jittery. DC is still working on the essay. We are coming from outside MCPS. The site hasn’t asked me to upload any transcript or test score info. At what point does it ask you to upload those things?

It is really poorly designed. I really wish MCPS would hire better tech people

Doesn't the school upload the transcript? And the testing services provide scores?

Parents/kids do not upload the transcript. The school sends those. Test scores like SAT’s have to come from the testing site. On kids do is the common app or the coalition. You then pay your school for the transcripts to be sent, and you pay the college board for the SAT’s to be sent.

And the school system really wishes you would read the directions

I don’t think the OP is talking about the college common app, but about completing the MCPS high school magnet programs application when coming from a non-MCPS middle school.

OP, am I interpreting your question correctly?

If we are talking about the college apps, this is a user [following directions] issue. The official transcript comes from the school. Not you, the student.

The subject says "hs common app." They are talking about the MCPS high school apps for 8th graders. The interface is the most unintuitive thing I've ever seen. As a web designer I can say it's almost like they designed it to do the opposite of what they teach in user interface design classes.

If you are coming from a private school/homeschool, the application should know this (because you registered your child with MCPS through the Consortia office before beginning the application) and there will be a prompt (after the essay questions) to upload a report card/transcript and test scores. I just did it an hour ago.

And for the snarky and/or uninformed amongst us, the application is indeed called "Grade 8 High School Common App" by MCPS, so the OP is using the correct terminology. If you're not participating in the process this year, you probably have nothing helpful to add to the conversation. Parents do indeed upload the report card/transcript, not the school, if the applicant is coming from a private school or homeschooled.
