| I had a fender bender 5 months ago. It was my fault. I provided my insurance info. The other party has not filed a claim. Should I stop worrying? |
|
Maybe they got their insurer to cover it, who will in turn go after your carrier via the subrogation process?
Or maybe they are just lazy and never bothered to get it fixed. |
| You should stop worrying because there is nothing you can do. Ball is in their court. They have three years in MD and DC and two in VA. If the person is hurt, they are likely waiting to finish treatment. |
| If your insurance is handling it, I doubt you’d even know? I never heard anything. |
| Happened to a friend, the other party waited until the last possible day to file a suit against her. So she didn't have time to counter claim. |
| Did you tell your insurance company? |
Your rates didn’t go up? |
That's not how it works |
Your insurance company typically would send a claims adjuster to take a statement and inspect your vehicle once you reported the collision unless the damage is de minimis. in the absence of a claim for bodily injury, payment for repairs can be resolved quickly even if liability is contested. |
| Same thing happened to me a few years ago (I rear-ended another car). Although I see damage to the rear bumper, they never made a claim even though I accepted full responsibility. I think they just decided it was not worth the hassle of putting the car in the shop for cosmetic damage |
