Aftercare Booked...What does a parent do?

I'm sure you've heard it all before - I'm a relo for work moving to the Bethesda area with an elementary student needing care IMMEDIATELY,
but all the at after school programs have a waiting list that will have you "waiting", ummm, until next year (and possibly beyond)
What do I do? What is my next option? What are others doing?
Summer School looks fine,
but what about until the end of the school year this year?
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!

Baby sitter that you might share with a neighbor.

Arrange for 1 or more college students to look after your child.

Enroll your child in private after school activities and hire someone to get them there and to pick them up.

Have you called the school to be sure you know of all programs that pick up at that school? If you looked on your own, it's possible to have missed some. Besides the suggestions of others, I had a friend use an au pair for her aftercare needs.
