| My daughter was bitten by her friend's dog yesterday, and the bite doesn't look too good. The dog reportedly has its shots, so not sure if there should be a concern there. Considering taking her to urgent care but then would have to report the bite? She doesn't want to get the dog put down/friend's family in trouble. |
| Absolutely take her to the doctor. She needs to be on antibiotics. |
|
Take her to urgent care! If the skin was broken, there is a very high chance of infection.
You can do what you want to avoid reporting - can just say "it';s been taken care of." But get her care! |
|
Take her to urgent care. They won't put the dog down, especially if it was an accident (was it?). I was bitten by a friend's dog, accidentally. The dog was going after another dog, missed, and bit my hand. Doc had to report, but friend's dog was fine. Not sure all docs have to report, especially if you explain or don't want them to.
But antibiotics are a must. Go. Your friend will understand. Nobody puts a dog down for something like this. |
| So can we just refuse to say whose dog it is? Made an UC appointment. |
can't you just say it was a dog you don't know? |
| I don't think urgent care is going to bother you about the logistics of the dog as long as you know it was vaccinated. It's not like a gunshot that must be reported. She probably needs antibiotics and a tetanus shot so you should definitely take her in. |
They'll make her get rabies shots in that situation. |
| Must go to dr. Chips fall where they may. |
| Your daughter’s health is more important than what might happen to the neighbor’s dog. Get her to the doctor now. |
| I was bitten more times than I can count growing up. It's not the end of the world. If it gets infected, take her in. If not, just keep it clean. It will heal. Did you wash it? |
This. And I wouldn’t lie either. |
| Urgent care must report the bite as they should. Get a tetanus shot and antibiotics. |
| They won't give antibiotics just because posters on DCUM are paranoid about dog bites. They'll decide if it looks infected. Same with tetanus. I'm sure OP's DD is already vaccinated. Most kids are. Calm down. |
| People here need to calm down. Obviously the bite is not that bad or else they would have taken her to the hospital after it happened. I mean it's great to have it looked at, but as long as you cleaned the wound after it happened, it will most likely heal fine. |
