MCPS closed Mon Nov 7?

The calendar still says possible instructional day. But so far the plan is for school to be closed right?

Closed 11/7 and 11/8.

Veterans Day is NOT CLOSED on 11/11. But parents are off, mostly, so many kids will be gone.

Our middle schooler will be out Monday-Thursday and says tons of kids are planning to do the same. I think I saw somewhere that the school is planning a Wellness Day which is not instructional, really.

It's one of those "worthless" weeks.

Wednesday 11/9 is start of a new quarter.

I wish! I have never worked for an organization that gave veterans' day off.

Yup. The 7th is so that teachers can do their grading and progress reports and close out a ton of paperwork. It's actually the only productive day of all the "professional days" we've had so far. All the others are useless because they make us go to useless meetings. This one is very much needed.

If we didn’t have to constantly do coverage, I would have a bit time to do grading and planning during the day. Instead I’m babysitting because there are no subs willing to deal with the foolishness in our buildings.

Veterans Day is not a wasted school day. Our elementary school principal has a wonderful program where students bring their relatives to school and then escort them down the center aisle at an assembly. In our case it’s two grandpas.
