That's all pretty awful. But is crime actually going up? Stats I've seen show crime going down in many ways despite news reports of crime increasing. A more subtle form of clickbait.

And yes crime is down since the 90s, just like European war deaths are down from the 40s. Still an uptick in both this year.

Not really as compared to last year: https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/district-crime-data-glance. Robbery is up, motor vehicle theft is up slightly, but overall crime is down and murders are down compared to 2021.

Not really as compared to last year: https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/district-crime-data-glance. Robbery is up, motor vehicle theft is up slightly, but overall crime is down and murders are down compared to 2021.

OK, crime is up since since 2020 and we have a slight reprieve from last year’s disaster.
