Hosting a pre-Halloween meetup in yard

I’m hosting the block before trick-or-treating. I said we’d have heavy apps like a chicken tender platter, for example, and fruit/salad. Also some adult and kid beverages. I’m terrible at planning this sort of thing but everyone seems to host something in our neighborhood so I feel like it’s my “turn.” If you are a good planner, how would you plan a casual menu that will sufficiently feed people before going out but won’t leave too many leftovers or cleanup? I live in Arlington, and am open to using restaurants for the mains.

Crock pot of chili seems to be a favorite in our neighborhood. I wouldn't judge if you just ordered pizza.

Planning to do chicken strips from pietanza and maybe some pizza. Crockpot with warm cider. The question is, how much pizza? How many tenders? Ya know?

How many people are you expecting? How many little kids versus teens/adults?

Do more pizza and tenders than you think you need. You can just give them out to the first trick or treaters who come by if you don't want leftovers. But clear out space in your fridge for leftovers to nibble on Monday and Tuesday.

And leftover pizza freezes really well also. Reheat for 5-6 minutes in a 425 degree oven.

If you promised chicken tenders I'd just order a bunch of Chik-Fil-A. But our neighborhood party is just pizza, lots of pizza. Grab a veggie and fruit platter from the grocery store too.

Chick-fil-A trays work Greta - but a word of warning. Take out in arlington that night is very popular. You may want to purchase the one you reheat.

Pizza is fine. I wouldn't get Chick-Fil-A, lots of people don't support them. Just buy some frozen nuggets and heat them in your oven.

Buy Chick Fila A and put on your own tray.

Order some pickup dishes from Wegmans. They have both chicken and pizzas. Super convenient.

Do you have access, either yourself or borrowing from some of the attendees, two crockpots? I would do a couple crockpots of chili, one with cooked chicken nuggets to keep them warm, one with macaroni and cheese, and last year the biggest hit was a neighbor who baked a few cookie sheets worth of cheese quesadillas and then sliced them into triangles and kept them warm in a crockpot. Super easy to grab on the run.
