| Will you take your child on Sunday or Halloween Monday? |
| In DC, trick or treating is on Halloween. |
|
Why do people ask this question every year?
And why has this same question popped up 3x already on this forum? |
|
Jesus take the wheel.
Welcome to DC. We trick or treat on Halloween. Between dusk and 8ish to 9ish pm. If you and your kids show up at anyone’s door on any other day, you will be the talk of the neighborhood for YEARS. |
Does anybody go trick or treating on any day other than Halloween? I've never heard of that. |
| If you knock on my door any day other than Halloween, I will not answer and you won't get candy. So incredibly rude for some people to think that their special snowflakes need Halloween on a weekend and are too precious to trick or treat on a Monday night. |
| I've never heard of ToTing on any other day than Halloween. Where do you live, OP? Where kids are Toting depends on their age and where they live. We live in DC and when my kids were young they went ToTing on Capitol Hill. Now they go wherever their friend group decides. My oldest wont go at all. |
| Trick or treat on Halloween night only, but there are Halloween event on weekend at some local place like recenter, you can google “Halloween near me” and take your kids to. |
Also entirely unclear why Sunday is better than Monday, since both are school nights (or work nights). I guess it would be easier to take kids out early on a Sunday if you can't take off from the office early, but lots of people go out at 6:30 or 7 or even a little later on Halloween. If you can't be home by 6:30 or 7 on Halloween to take your kid out trick or treating, then how much does it really matter to you? |

What a dumb question.
Easter. That's the asnwer.
|
| Monday is for trick or treating. But we're trying to decide whether or not we're doing the Sherman Circle Halloween festival on Sunday. Last year it was on Halloween so it was a natural segue from that to trick or treating, but my kid is little enough that hyping her up 2 days in a row may backfire. |
| OMG. Every year. |
| I have never in my 40 years of existence seen anyone trick or treat on any day other than Halloween. |
Exactly. I have a feeling some small towns decree that the Saturday before is for ToTing or something. But in an area as massive and diverse as this there is NO way to organize or communicate this. It's on 10/31, dusk until 8:30pm (roughly) and then it's over. This year it's looking like rain. BOO. |
I grew up in the Midwest and trick or treating was always on a weekend night. The Saturday closest to Halloween. So, yes, other areas of the country do. I’ve been here long enough to not ask
