I am considering enrolling in both of these childbirth classes. Did anyone else do the same? Was it worth it? Or did they overlap too much? Alternatively, did anyone enroll in more than one childbirth class at the same time and if so, your thoughts? Thanks. |
did you end up making a decision? what did you find out? |
Bradley is great..have not taken the other course. |
I am not sure about the content or length of a physicians & midwives class, but we are taking Bradley now. Honestly I cannot imagine taking an additional class. Bradley is 12 weeks long and while we are finding it useful, it verges on overkill and could undoubtedly be compressed into 8 weeks. You hear everything about each stage of pregnancy, labor, birth, post-partum, breastfeeding. I don't see what information you could get from another class except a different philosophy to everything. Bradley is very into natural birth. If the other class had a different emphasis, that could be worth hearing, but I don't know in the end how useful it would be to hear both at the same time. I think you should research their philosophies and take the class that seems most appealing to you. If you know you want natural childbirth, go with Bradley. |
I was a P&M patient and opted for the Bradley class because I really wanted to have a natural birth (which I did). I did not take the P&M class in addition to the 12-week class. You really don't need anything else if you take Bradley! Good luck. |
When do people start a Bradley class? |
The Bradley instructors usually recommend starting the class no later than 22 weeks. The class is 12 weeks long so you just need to make sure you're not cutting it too close to your due date, but don't start too early since it is mostly focused on the birth. I'd say starting at about 20 weeks is ideal. |
