What are you paying for car insurance?

We just got our renewal and it is far more expensive than I expected! No new drivers, just two adults with no accidents, tickets or claims. We've got aging Hondas in good condition; one for a short daily commute, the other is a back up for when we need a second car. New premium is $4K, which is almost double what it was last year. Anyone else have the same experience?

Ours is a little under $1,200 a year, 2 adult drivers 2 Acuras. No accidents, tickets etc

We switched to Erie. Ours is 650/yr. 2 mid 40s drivers, no accidents. 2011 and 2018 autos. 1000 deductibles. In Virginia. Bundled with home owners and an umbrella policy. I had to switch companies to get this price. Our previous company was about 1100/year for same coverage.

Same two $80-90k 2020-2021 cars.

Do you live in Newark or a high crime area? I would call other insurers and get quotes. That’s absurd.

Ours with Geico went up from $650 every 6 months to $1050. I was shocked. Two cars and good driving record.

Similar jump here too. I reached out to ask WTF and their response, in a nutshell: It's inflation. The cost of repairing cars has gone up a ton, shortage of parts, etc. I mean, I get it. But, yeah, we're leaving before renewal and found other insurance that is much cheaper.

Ours is 4k, but we have two young male drivers - 20 and 18, for four vehicles.

OP here. Thanks to all who responded. We’ll shop around.

Way too much, because new teen driver... ugh. It's such a racket.

Wow. We still have $1200 per year for 2 cars. I hope it doesn't go up.

I'm paying $2,319.90/yr for 4 vehicles (the newest is a 2008) and 3 drivers (one is my 22-year-old son). I've had Geico for 30 years, I think I need to shop around and see if I can get a better deal elsewhere. We live in DC proper and we did have two very minor fender benders (our fault but not the 22 yo olds) in 2018 and 2019; no other claims, ever.
