1st Birthday party - born in Covid

No family over really in first six months. Are you having large (10+ people) parties indoors now - into late fall?

We did not have an indoor gathering (except with vaccinated relatives who we knew masked at all times including in the shower and were willing to test fourteen times a day minimum) until our babies were vaccinated twice.

Then we had people over who confirmed they were vaccinated and boosted, and had open windows created cross breezes and two air purifiers going.

Feb birthday. Last year we did a park party. This year we were planning on an indoor party with preschool class only but I don’t know, I keep hearing how bad winter is going to be.

"Masked in the shower" has to be satire.

Yes we are doing this and have been for almost a year. Everyone we know is vaccinated and trying to be as careful as possible within normal limits. Please have a party and enjoy life!!

No they have not. I meant “most everyone” but clearly young kids have not. My 5 year old was vaccinated over the summer. My 15 month old just got his. We have attended two weddings, two baptism, lots of indoor and outdoor birthdays. We had a one year old party for our son in July. No one got COVID.

We got COVID for the first time three weeks ago from our nanny share baby.

It’s out there and will continue to be but we can still try and enjoy major milestones at this stage

We were very careful for the first 6 months but he started daycare at that time and I returned to work in person. After that, we basically accepted that it would be what it would be since we couldn’t (and, frankly, didn’t want to) lock down forever. We hosted an indoor first birthday with 25 people and do other indoor activities. None of us are high risk and we’re all vaccinated. Just have to move on at some point, although it was hard to make that shift psychologically after being very locked down during pregnancy and postpartum.

My baby was born in November 2021. We are having close family over for a birthday party next weekend! (Our siblings, their kids, and both sets of grandparents.) it feels like a small and intimate enough setting where I can ask anyone who doesn’t feel well to stay home, and trust that they will. Im excited.

No. We are still being pretty careful.
