| Any recommendations for a particular Thomas Jefferson bio? After seeing Hamilton at the Kennedy Center, DH mentioned wanting to read up on TJ. Might make it a Christmas gift if he doesn't find a book for himself by then. Open to suggestions! |

I really liked Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: An American Controversy, and I’d recommend anything by Annette Gordon-Reed.
As a gift, I’d probably go with Jefferson and Monticello : the Biography of a Builder, by Jack McLaughlin. (Amazon still has one hard cover copy in stock if that matters, but paperbacks should be easy to find.) Warning : Reading either of these books might ignite a burning desire to visit Monticello and UVA? |
Thanks! I'll check these options out. |

Historical fiction but I really liked America's First Daughter - you learn a lot about Jefferson and yes, his family.

If he’s up for fiction, the very well researched Sally Hemings by Barbara Chase Riboud might be of interest.
