Nanny rate for two children (toddler and baby)

Anonymous
Hello,

We have a 15 month old and one on the way. We are comparing the cost of daycare and a nanny and was wondering what people usually pay their nannies for two children? We are from out of state so unfamiliar with the norms. We will be in Bethesda/Chevy Chase. Thank you!

that is before taxes btw. we paid 30 plus all her ss and medicare taxes which brings it closer to 33 an hour. that way she is actually getting 30/hr in her pocket. make sure you have the tax conversation and agree on who pays what taxes.

We pay $30 hourly before taxes(40 hour guaranteed), 10 days of PTO, all holidays paid, 7 sick days, health care stipend, and workers comp. We’re in Chevy Chase and have a toddler that goes to pre-school half day and a newborn(we’re on maternity leave so our nanny only takes care of our DS and while he’s at school she does laundry and our grocery, huge help.)

Shame on you. You are cheating the government and your nanny. You are obligated to pay FICA, and withhold state/, Federal taxes. I hope you get caught and pay a huge fine.

We pay $30 plus time and a half for overtime (45 hours a week). This is for one kid. Will give her a raise when second kid is born. Our nanny is worth her weight in gold.

Geez, many families are already doing this so it is likely this family is just doing what everyone else is doing.

Focus on your own life PP and stop worrying about what other people are doing.
