Who owns the electric school buses your child rides to school?

The Board of Education decided to use electric school buses owned by a private company. They picked one company, contracted with another company, and is now holding a press conference with a third company.

Are the buses operated by the county or the company? I would prefer them be operated by a private vendor who probably has more strict hiring requirements than MCPS and without a union to protect the drivers should they do something wrong.

The company has to adhere to the same regulations as the county and NTSB and other regulators.

The electric bus contract cost the two top MCPS transportation people their jobs and electric buses are not doing what they are supposed to be able to do yet.
