My kid learned cursive in APS. They practiced daily last year in 3rd grade and finished the Handwriting without Tears workbook.

My current middle schooler didn’t learn cursive at school. We just bought a book from Amazon & had him learn it that way one summer. But my current 3rd grader is learning it now at his APS school.

My DS learned it at his catholic school but needed A LOT of practice so I just downloaded free worksheets from websites.

I don't know if they teach it but yes, Handwriting without Tears does work to learn it.
Have your kid work on a few pages a day
It will also give them the skill of being able to read cursive

It should not be taught in any of the schools, for equity reasons.

I mean it’s 2022. Learning cursive is like…at best a hobby.

Cursive, once learned, is less frustrating and quicker than writing block letters, kids (and everyone else) retain information much better when they write it down and that for younger kids it instills feeling of accomplishment. It also improves neurtal connections in a way that typing cannot. Kids who learn cursive are also usually better spellers in the elementary years. It also improves fine motor skills.

This has already been explained to you.

It is not equitable to teach cursive.

Nope. It’s about the brain connection for many as a PP explained especially for struggling writers. APS needs to put down the iPads and do more cursive.
