Hi, I'm looking for a low-level Volleyball club in Fairfax Area focusing on player development for my DD. DD is in middle school, played rec early this year, and is now with a local travel team. Not interested in clubs making you pay $$, and DD will just ride the bench. Lol Thank You

We had a good experience with No panic in 8th grade as far as court playing time in tournaments. They practiced twice a week and had optional clinics included twice a week as well. I believe they’ll be having a open house for club volleyball

NP. Alan, the owner and one of the coaches will present himself as head coaching a team during registration and once everyone has paid deposits, and other teams have finalized their leagues, he’ll stop showing up as coach. He’s flakey, and shows up late to practice often, and sometimes won’t show up. Just something to be aware of. This is a tactic used by some leagues. They’ll present the best possible coaches, then once all the various clubs has their teams locked in and players have no other options for the season but to stick with their club…they replace with inexperienced or bad coaches. It’s a bait and switch. |
| Coach Alan was not my kids coach, but she did clinics for months that he taught himself and improved her game tremendously. She is on a completely different skill level that’s she was before the clinics. |
That's awesome. He's a very good coach, when he's engaged. He's notorious for being flakey and overcommitting, so just providing a word of warning to clarify he will be fully involved before signing any contracts. |

My DD is considering No Panic (Coach Alan's team specifically) and two others for her first club experience. The plan is that she'd still be playing with HS teammates at No Panic even if there is an eventual coaching change. Although, I'm not a fan of this news.
It looks like Vienna Elite is "splitting off" (or creating) top teams under a different club name ... DMV Elite, but strictly for the purpose of getting more teams into tournaments. The DMV Elite teams are only 16s and up and only one team per age group. DD's 8th grade middle school team coach will be leading one of the DMV Elite teams. Also considering the St. James as one of their coaches reached out to us first. ... In the long view, there may only be five varsity spots on the HS team next year. Not yet sure if DD will earn one of those spots even if she improves over the club season and demonstrates that improvement in next year's HS tryouts. |
