What is wrong with the Vienna Whole Foods?

Anonymous
It is now the 4th time that meat from there has been spoiled. Over the past four months I have had to throw out spoiled fish and as of tonight, ground beef. I am ordering take out instead.

Is this a supply chain or our neighborhood WF issue?

I go to the one in Tysons off Idylwood and Route seven and I’ve never had this issue.

Spoiled, as in?

I don't shop there but I live in the area and have noticed huge variations between grocery stores here. Some are great, some have empty shelves and spoiled food. I'd assumed it was the individual store manager and, by extension, the labor shortage meaning they hired poor managers.

Huh, I'm there like twice a week and I've never had this happen. That sounds really gross! I'd definitely bring it up with the butcher/ fish guys or the store manager.

That’s my store, too, and I’m in there 2-3 times a week. It is a dump of a store. Ever since the Boro store opened, this one gets the short end of the stick on everything. When I have extra time and want to do a big shop, I go to the Boro.

Might be a ground beef thing in general. It's been real bad everywhere, so much so, I bought $99 cuisinart meat grinder. I'm sick of it. Fish was never ever good there. We order ProFish every week. They have a drop location at Taco Bsmba, and I think at a farmers market on 7. Their Wester Ross salmon, swordfish, halibut, Mahi Mahi are excellent.

Agree with everything.

Has WF bakery section always been so full of items with palm oil and corn syrup? Shocked me last visit. But I don't shop at WF more than maybe once a year.

WF in general isn’t great and hasn’t been for a few years. Lately I’ve been buying way more at the farmers market and then making a special trip to a butcher.

And I’m not sure the Idylwood WF would be any better than the Vienna one, since Idylwood doesn’t have a butcher counter.

Not just spoiled and slimy, but when meat hasn’t been spoiled it’s been bad — stringy, full of gristle, cut strangely, overly fatty.

I paid a lot of money for what I thought were top quality ribeyes (top for WF), and they didn’t taste good at all. They didn’t even taste like ribeyes.

It didn’t used to be, before the Amazon buy out there was a commitment to non-GMO for all food items. That has gone away. Very slyly.

I gave up on WH and only buy fish and meat at Balduccis. Same price but much better quality.

GMOs are fine. Pseudoscience is bad.
