| What books is your 3rd grader reading? Either in school (reading groups) or at home? Thanks |
Mine loved Harry Potter in 3rd. |
| Mine loves graphic novels at home (dog man) |
What about at school? In guided reading? |
|
No idea what my third grade kid read during reading time at school.
At home, it was Harry Potter, Big Nate, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and everything by Rick Riordan. |
| How does no one knows what the kids are reading in reading groups at school? |
| Mine's reading consumerables at school. OP, why don't you ask your child or teacher if you're that curious? |
| Wings of Fire, Harry Potter, Goddess Girls, Red Pyramind, Throne of Fire series |
| Teachers, can you yell us what the 3rd graders are reading in reading groups? Thanks |
| The county has done away with guided reading groups as we have transitioned to structured literacy. 'Groups' are flexible and fluid. Novel studies are whole-group or done through literature circles, but everyone reads the same book or they are engaging in Benchmark consumables. |
Not the case at our school. Guided reading groups are still happening and all kids have different books at our school. |
It’s a different book(s) every week. Or excerpts for just a day or two. I don’t keep up - I think it’s common to not know exactly what your kid read at school today. My kid loved to talk about the books he chose but doesn’t like talking about the guided reading books. |
| In reading groups they are doing short passages. As a whole class they read “the one and only Ivan”. |
