Fun Book Club Ideas?

Anonymous
Looking for ideas/ways to spice up a book club discussion. We just read "Lessons in Chemistry".

In the past, we've done things like everyone draws a question and answers it or we watch short videos of interviews with the author.

Any ideas on how I can lead the meeting for this book to make the discussion fun?

I was thinking about reading that book. What did you think? Is that the genre your club usually reads?

Spinning off the title you could have fun drinks in test tubes.

You could play "celebrity" or charades with the characters.

You could assign one person to research the author before the discussion and they talk for a few minutes about the author's background, what reviews of the book have said, etc.

Look for a food connection. My book club just read Disorientation and now we will discuss the book over dim sum.

For Lessons in Chemistry, maybe link to a discussion of Julia Child?

Talk of the Town by Ardal O'Hanlon or Engleby by Sebastian Faukes, both books that deal with serial killers but which switch it up half way through. Lots to talk about.
