Hosting a girls night with a group that prefers Moscatos and sweet Riesling. What types of dessert wines would you pick?
I’ll be shopping at Total Wines. Maybe a variety of 5-6 wines? I’ve seen some where they have tasters guess cheap vs. expensive, others guessing the actual type of wine, and others with a list to go thru. |
| If you’re going to total wine just ask one of their employees to guide you. They usually do a good job. |

Port. Total Wine has a sample pack of tawny port:

| Tokay! |
| Banfi Rosa Regale is widely available, very tasty, and new to many people. Serve with chocolate! |
| Ice wine! |
| Prosecco |
| Do people really do this? |
| Jam Jar. They have a sweet shiraz that's $9 a bottle and, well, it's my jam. For sweet red wine. We're not talking high class here. |
Costco has it for $6. in DC |
Yes, this! There are varying levels of sweetness, designated with "puttonyos." Here's one that's 6 puttonyos, which is the sweetest. https://www.totalwine.com/wine/dessert-fortified-wine/tokaji/chateau-megyer-tokaji-aszu-6-puttonyos/p/104138500?s=604&igrules=true And here's a 5, which is sweet but not as sweet as the 6! https://www.totalwine.com/wine/dessert-fortified-wine/tokaji/chateau-megyer-tokaji-aszu-5-puttonyos/p/104107500?s=604&igrules=true |
| Op here. Thank you all!! Great, great suggestions! |
| I'd trust an employee at any decent wine store over strangers on the internet. |
