Any way of knowing how frequently the average DCUM user posts?

Anonymous
Hi Jeff,

I was thinking about how much time I spend on DCUM- both how often I am just reading and the frequency/volume of my posts. In my own mind I am an "average user." But I really have no way of knowing what that is.

Given that users don't need to register, I imagine it would be difficult, but do you happen to have data on that? I'm not really asking about me specifically, but averages and extremes in general. Just curious!

Thanks.

I don't have data on how often the average person posts. Keep in mind that most users don't post at all. They find a thread via a Google search, come and read it, and the go away. Less than half of our users are return users. From what I've seen over the years, many frequent users don't post at all or post very rarely. I would say that even posting once a day is fairly unusual relative to all users. I would also think that 5-10 posts a day might be common among those who post actively. The extreme cases I've seen -- not including spammers -- are users who posted 40 - 50 times a day. Maybe not everyday obviously, but often. I've even seen a user who posted 80 times in one day.
