There are festivals for a huge variety of religious and cultural holidays, and the embassies host events of all kinds throughout the year (not just the embassy open houses). The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is great, too. We probably attend an event hosted by a foreign embassy or cultural association of some kind at least once a month.
