Toddler fever, no other symptoms

Anonymous
My 19 month old has a 103.7 fever but no other discernible symptoms besides being generally fussy. We called the nurse hotline, waiting to hear back. It went down with medicine. What would cause such a fever with no other signs of sickness?

UTI could--it happened to my daughter at about the same age.

Flu B
My kid had it last month

Flu is flaming it’s way through our school right now.

Could be anything. Do they perk up when you give them Tylenol or Motrin? If they do, it’s likely what I call an RBV - Random Baby Virus. There’s a ton of them. If they don’t perk up with a fever reducer, then it might be something else.

Often Roseola, will know if a rash appears in a few days.

When this happened to our DS, it was roseola.

The fact that the meds are reducing the fever is a good sign.

Bet they’ll get a rash and it’ll be roseola or HFM depending on which one.

This was HFM for us. Would never have known what she had until we got a notice from daycare saying it was going around.

99.9% of the time we've encountered this, it's been an ear infection.

Covid for my 13 month old last week

OP here - he finally got a rash last night, all but confirming roseola. Fever went away after three days but five days in he's still a bit fussy, though improving.

Woops see that it was confirmed! That was my first guess. Those high fevers between like 6 months to two years old are a tell tale sign
