The market for used pelotons seems to be pretty hot right now, and you can get a peloton for under $900.
My question: Has anyone purchased a used peloton and did you run into any issues? Background: Over the pandemic, I became a home exerciser, but am growing tired of it. Over the pandemic I also expanded to outdoor cycling and hiking. However, many days I just can't do 'go somewhere' due to time commitments. Plus with the weather getting cold and ugly, those options are mostly out. So I'm exploring things I haven't done before, in a home gym. I admit that home workouts tend to be very very boring for me, but I push myself through them. I've never taken a peloton class, and don't even know if I'd like it. |
UGH "PELOTON" not Pelton. |
Tons of people do. If you buy one used I recommend seeing it in person, turning it on and making sure that when you start a class that resistance/output/candence are all displaying |
Tons of people do run into issues? Or buy used pelotons? If there's a forum discussing those issues somewhere that you can point me to, I'm happy to go there. |
You can rent a Peloton from the company now, which would give you the ability to try it without as much of a commitment. Last time I read the fine print, you could cancel anytime without a penalty.
There are lots of Peloton FB groups. I don't have one specifically to recommend about this, but I'm sure there's one about buying used ones. Mostly I think you could have issues with calibration. |
I would be cautious. I keep hearing about problems and difficulty getting the repairs done. |
Tons of people buy used pelotons. I have had mine for 2.5 years and its a workhorse. There are tons of peloton groups on FB. You're much more likely to get good info there. |
Amazon had a really good Peloton sale this month. I would wait for Black Friday and you can probably buy a new one or refurbished with a warranty for around the same price as new |
