| Has anyone installed a stairlift that was affordable? We are looking into one so my parents can visit. They may have ventílalos move to DC. Need one that does a 180 turn, and quote was a whopping $11,000. Any affordable companies you can recommend? |

| Try Grace in Motion in VA. Idk if they are the cheapest but they will give you good advice. They also had a great solution for us involving building a small platform that enabled us to get a more simple (less expensive) lift. |

| Make sure your parents try one at a friend's house before you go to this effort. My friend installed one in her mother's house because her mother insisted on staying there and her mother was terrified to use it after one bumpy ride that had her screaming. It's slow, but not a smooth sail. |

| $11,000 is "affordable" to some people. What is your definition of "affordable?" We know it's under $11,000--but can you afford $8k? $3k? If people here are recommending ones that are $9k, because they think that is affordable, but you are hoping to find something under $500..it's a waste of everyone's time. |

| Thanks all for the reccs, very helpful. $11,000 is the most expensive lift the company I got a quote from offers, so even they acknowledged that is a lot for a stairlift. If I can get a safe one for under $5,000, obviously better. Great advice about the bumpy ride concern..will see if there is anywhere to test. |

| See if the company has used units.. I got one from Bedco Mobility in Silver Spring. Many people install them, but then have to move anyway and sell them back. Used units are much less expensive. Even if you need a turn, you might find a used unit for the straight length and and the chair with an add on new part for the turn. The tracks are in sections if there is a turn anyway. |

| Yes, thanks. I have reached out to a few companies who sell used units, as well as rent them. And I agree with PP-Medicare doesn’t cover. Thanks all for the great info! |

| Op here. Just to close the loop for anyone following thread in future, if you can get a straight stairlift, much cheaper, and you can find them used. ($2000/$3000 new). If you need curved, you are looking at $10,000 and up, since they have to be customized. We just ordered ours. |
