I am not seriously considering getting a bugaboo, but I am curious about them. Why the hype? And why so expensive? Does anyone have one and think it was worth what seems to be an outrageous amount of money for a stroller? |
i love mine ... we bought a used chameleon on craigs list for half price. Honestly, it's one of our favorite baby products. It's versatile- we used the bassinet at the beginning for naps and walks, we then used the car seat attachment for trips, and now we use the regular seat for our 11 month old. My husband likes the wheels (easily handles the bumpy sidewalks) and the adjustable handle. I love the bright colors. We live in the city and walk everywhere. We rarely take it in the car so if you live in suburbia and drive everywhere it's not very practical (hence our great deal on Craig's list). Lastly, the resale value is great - you can use it for a year and resell it at half price- you can't do that with most strollers. |
I believe it is what it is ... a hype! Ok, it looks nice but I used my friends'bugaboo and didn't find it comfortable at all! First of all it is not for tall people, you will hurt your back. Then there is the fact that it the actual basket/crib is so low ... And what bothered me the most was that you keep on bumping your shin against the thing. It is expensive yes but so are other (in my opinion better strollers).
Remember, you can use the thing for years and years so I guess it's worth the investment, as long as you buy something that is comfortable for both the baby and yourself |
I have a Bugaboo, am 5'10 and think it's great for being tall. I've borrowed other strollers where the handle doesn't extend and that did kill me back after a little bit of walking. Also, you don't bump your chin if you have the handle extended at the proper height for yourself. To the PP, sounds like maybe you didn't extend the handle. |
Sorry meant to write shin, not chin .. ahhaahh |
We got one as a gift and didn't care for it. It was too bulky and I found it cumbersome to maneuver. We're happy with our Graco. |
We got one because we lived in the city and I wanted to walk around the neighborhood with the baby sleeping without waking him up, which was impossible to do with a stroller with plastic wheels -- we needed something that took bumpy sidewalks well, which meant bicycle-like tires. Also, my husband and I both wanted something with an adjustable handle; we are both about 5'8, but I find most strollers way too short for me. If there had been something less expensive than a Bugaboo with those features (that was not a jogging stroller), I would have bought it. I also like the look of the Bugaboo, but that was way down on the list of important things. The thing I hate about it is that having one "marks" us as yuppie parents or makes us look like we care about keeping up with the Jones's, which is decidedly not the case. On most other baby things, we have been bargain shoppers; we drive inexpensive cars and have a very frugal lifestyle. This was just one instance where it was worth it to us to pay extra for the features that we wanted. |
Love mine even if it is trendy- so comfy for dd. and it just looks nice too ![]() |
