Are MAP scores used for anything on a student level in HS?

Anonymous
My son is in 9th grade and I told him not to stress about MAP testing at all. In elementary, I believe the test results were used for class placement, but in high school the students choose their classes so the MAP score doesn't really matter on an individual level. Not that I want them to blow it on purpose but it's not worth the stress.

Am I right about this?

Absolutely and HS students know about this.

Map tests are absolutely not the sole thing used for class placement in elementary school. Please stop stressing your elementary aged kids

It’s not used for course placement, but teachers may use it for understanding the reading level of their students when planning and forming groups. Don’t blow it off, but don’t stress about it.
