If you own an expensive, recent car….

…why the hell are you still holding your phone like this while driving & talking?

You have a $70K Tahoe with Apple and Android interfaces that are awesome. Yet you distract yourself by holding a phone and talking into it. Even worse when the idiots wedge the phone between their neck and ear! And don’t get me started on those who are texting!

You have an awesome car that’s basically a computer on 4 wheels. Why subject yourself to this idiocy?

I can’t figure out how to use it.

I only need one hand to drive. The conversation is distracting, not the object in my hand.

That said, I use CarPlay 99% of the time.

Having Apple CarPlay was one of my top criteria in 2021. I’m addicted to my phone and Apple Music. Most new cars have it now.

Because I spent all the money on the car and really old phone.

OP: You misunderstand the photo. The lady is holding a snack bar that resembles a phone. She is just getting ready to take her first bite.

People that can afford that car also aren’t addicted to their phones.

It’s better with peanut butter.

I'm in a rental/loaner/DH's car
The bluetooth is acting up
The sound/quality is poor
My kids or other passengers are in the car and I don't want them to hear (in which case it's at my ear not on speaker)

I don’t. Mine is charging in the wireless charger, and I’m on Bluetooth.

None of these excuses make any sense. I use CarPlay in rental cars all the time. Bluetooth is actually a backup to CarPlay and take 2 seconds to sync to your phone. Sound quality is always worse on your tinny iPhone speaker than the car itself.

Sounds kinda dangerous to play a game of Is It Cake? while driving, but I accept this answer.

Clearly the lady in the photo is a passenger not the driver. May not be her car.

You seem to think that CarPlay = safety. It's not that simple.
