baby aspirin

Anonymous
I was told by a doctor friend (radiologist) I should take baby aspirin while ttc and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. I had a m/c but we don't know what caused it.
I will ask my ob next week, but are there any negative side effects of doing this, especially while pregnant?
I have read that it is recommended for some to prevent miscarriage.

Thoughts?

I take baby asprin while trying to conceive...it can be a solution that prevents blood clots but thinning the blood...this can be the cause of miscarriage for some. It can not hurt as long as it is the baby asprin dose, 81mg or less. But I would talk to your dr. first.

Shady Grove recommends baby asprin for those doing IVF. However, Cornell does not put their patients on baby asprin (although they will allow you do it until you start the stim drugs). If you are TTC on your own, I think there is a theory that it can increase bloodfow to the uterus.

I did it for both my pregnancies as a precaution.

Good thing too.....we just found out that one of my family members has a genetic clotting disorder. I'm going to be tested next week and could very likely have it. If I have it I would have had a high probability of miscarrying one of my beautiful babies if it wasn't for the aspirin.
