Are there any long stretches of paths that are not too hilly without roads to cross? Would love to find a fun safe place to rollerblade with the family. Thanks! |
Is Rock Creek Park too hilly? |
Hains Point. |
+1 |
For Hains point you would need to be on the road. The sidewalks are terrible. Cars are supposed to go slow but they don’t always, so I wouldn’t recommend for kids. |
Anacostia Riverwalk Trail

I'll second this. |
I bike Hains Point a lot on weekends. It will be fine. |
Not at all. It is perfect. |
Mount Vernon Trail. Canal trail in georgetown. |
And recently paved!! |
Eek. Mount Vernon is quite multiuse with lots of bikers treating it like it's a speedway. Second Hains Point and higher up on the canal trail. |
CO trail starting in Leesburg to Purcellville. It’s quiet and end of trail so less Le Mans. |
Was going to ask. What about quads? I can plow stop but otherwise not gifted at slowing down. |
I concur that Mt Vernon trail is not ideal. There are so many bikers--both fast ones who blow past and casual tourists on those awful rental bikes who don't know the rules of riding on a trail. It's too narrow if you want to rollerblade side by side with kids. Haines point is way better for that! And it is flatter! |
