I think it’s split 40/60 judging from my years there but would love some stats
What are you talking about?
It's on their websites. In Yale's class of 2026, counting only students who attended high school in the US, 65% attended public schools.
That is a big leg up. 12-20% of all high school students but 35% of spots at Ivy https://www.brookings.edu/articles/new-kid-on-the-block-a-closer-look-at-americas-private-schools/ |
Read Princeton Review Best Colleges. It's all in there for almost 400 colleges.
Well about 90% of kids go to public school. Think it is 49.5 million public k-12 vs 4.7 million private school k-12 kids.
And I would think most international students went to private schools |
You can see this on the websites. The percent who went to public keeps rising.
Yeah but where? In many areas of the country legacy families live in areas where public schools are really strong and de facto exclusive. So in those situations it makes sense to forgo private tuition and put that money into tutoring, ECs, and the 529.
Does it matter? 99.95% of our kids aren't; getting in anyway.
