Do HIPPA laws apply in schools?

Can a school nurse or teacher discuss private medical info such as medication a child takes or achild's diagnosis in front of other parents?

Absolutely not! The only people who should know about a student's medical record are the teachers/staff who have direct contact with that child. School personnel should never talk about a child in front of another child. If this has happened, talk to the principal or head of school.
