My child is asking to invite the girls from her class to a birthday celebration- 10 years old.
I'm a complete introvert and I am horrified at this. Please tell me what I could do to entertain the girls and have it be less about "us" the parents socializing. Help me!!!! I need ideas. I even thought about a group movie where we wouldn't have to talk. lol |
| For a 10 year old, as a guest I’d assume it is a drop off party. If you want to make sure this is the case, say in the invitation, “Feel free to drop your child off! Just leave a number where you can be reached.” I can’t imagine any not taking you up on it. Maybe do a movie at your home or you can rent out the theater at University Mall if you’re in VA if you want to be extra sure you not stuck socializing. BTW, I can totally understand wanting to avoid this. |

Bowling or movie or rock climbing party.
I would 100% expect to drop off at 10 years old. Just small chit chat at drop off and pick up. |
| Is the whole world an introvert these days? |
| OP why would parents stay for a 10yo birthday party? |
| Pottery painting is a hit at this age. This was a perfect choice for our shy/reserved daughter. Everyone was happily engaged in an activity and was excited about their work. We didn't have parents stay (at 10, most parents expect a drop-off). You can serve cake at the tail end and call it a day. |
| No parent is staying for a 10 year old birthday party. Why would you even think you need to socialize with parents other than a quick hello and goodbye? |
| Parents don’t need to stay. But depending on how many girls that it, it can be a lot for your home when it comes to doing activities beyond movies. |
| Op here. What do you all think of Painting with a Twist? They have birthday parties and the kids would be engaged the entire time "doing something". |
| For my kid's 10th, I bought tickets for their friends to see a show at Imagination Stage together. We had cake and pizza in a private room for 30 minutes following the show and the parents picked them up after. Easiest party ever. |
Yes fool |
What is that? A play? |
+1 We just did this, and 10 is a great age for it. And yes, drop-off is the norm at this age. |
Yes, they do age appropriate plays in their theater. https://imaginationstage.org/ |
