Amazon Fresh store in Chevy Chase - the new one

Anonymous
Anyone been to the new store in Chevy Chase? When is the one in Shady Grove opening? How is it and how are the prices, parking, checkout?

Do you have to use the Amazon app for checkout?

Aren’t they all the same?

Check the prices online at amazon.com with the store selected.

Checkout can be done with the dash cart which uses the app.

i think they have regular cashiers.

Been a few times. They have cashiers, easy parking, not crowded, app is great. Not very big. Limited products.

Hate the narrow entry and exit for the parking garage, otherwise convenient.

If you go there, do yourself a favor and look up at the ceiling. You might not leant to go back if you enjoy even the tiniest bit of privacy.

All stores have cameras. Amazon is just more open about it.

Sure, but the amount they have is truly frightening/dystopian.

Can you go without prime? I assume you need some kind of account to use it (they need ouor data to survive). I will likely skip it.

Is there some reason to think that this store is different from the other ones? The Friendship Heights store is open to anyone, although Prime shoppers get special sales (as they do at Whole Foods).
If you live near the store, check your mail. The AF flyers may offer special sales — such as $10 off a minimum purchase, that the flyers available in the store don’t offer.

Personally, I don't get this store because the selection is really limited. It seems really big but the selection is kind of bodega-like. There's also never anyone in there.

When is the Gaithersburg store going to open?

Completely uninteresting: when I went a few weeks ago, they had no organic fruit, very few organic veggies, and the location felt cold (literally, and in design). The staff was still learning the ropes, which is fine, and they were friendly enough.

I'll stick to Whole Foods. As an Amazon Prime member, I can pay by showing my in-store code anyway, no more credit card.

That was my impression too. Produce selection was particularly bad, but the rest wasn’t great, either. I had to go to another store just to get everything on my list. I drive right past it on my way to/from just about anywhere, but I wouldn’t go back unless I needed just 1 or 2 things I knew they had.
